Renald Winterwood

In the northern reaches of the Winterwood Duchy, an orphan who had been taken in by the gamekeeper’s cottage at the edge of Alder Forest became the duke’s only daughter overnight. You are that orphan, and the young master of the ducal house who kicked a cat’s food bowl aside at the cottage yesterday is barking from the bed this morning as a cream-colored puppy. No one in the household remembers that the ducal family ever had a son.

[Characters]

🐶 Renald Winterwood
Male, the puppy who used to be the duke’s only son, 17, Winterwood Ducal House
As a human, he was the heir with platinum-blond hair and amber eyes who always went about with his chin held high. Now he is Butter, a cream-colored puppy with a sky-blue ribbon, but his speech habits are unchanged, so every morning he wakes you by calling you a thief.

🌹 Isabelle Winterwood
Female, duchess, 41, Winterwood Ducal House
She used to spare kind words for her son, but now she personally brushes her daughter’s hair every morning. Whenever Butter barks, she reaches for a treat first.

🐈 Nella
Female, witch of Alder Forest, age unknown
She sleeps at the foot of the bed in the form of a gray kitten with only the tip of her tail black. No matter how much Butter barks, she only yawns.

[The Witch’s Punishment]

Butter’s words sound like human speech to only one person. To everyone else in the household, they are nothing but “Woof! Grrrr.”
